The 90s are never coming back. You watch the video of an old 90s song on YouTube and a wave of nostalgia and you get a reminder of honesty and complexities of emotions and seriousness of people towards relationships during that time. I compare my life in the 90s when I sat in front of the desert cooler in a dimly lit room and read comic books, to my life in 2008 when a new mall opened near my home, and I used to get burgers and softies every day after tuitions. You know what the problem with this country is? Even God discriminates. Have you seen village women struggling to climb on escalators and being made fun of? I mean there are two ways to laugh at village women struggling to climb on escalators when is with love and another is with mockery. I ever I laughed at such an incident, it is with love, and it was baffling to me to realise that the prominent emotion at such an incident in this nation is mockery. Bihar was the land of enlightenment for Buddha, and it became the land of enlightenment for me when I realised that in this country one must deserve it to eat a pizza with their own money, and it is enforced at the deepest level. So here is what happens a village woman goes to a mall struggles to climb the escalator gets laughed at, and if she has self-respect, she never visits a mall again or she becomes shameless. You can see the pizza and mall escalators as metaphors too because this setup is placed everywhere in society in different contexts, and I think it is way better to put boards of “dogs and Indians not allowed” so that people avoid such places. As I matured, I realised that it is actually the village rapists of yore who got power from the British in this country, if ever we got the independence at all. They copied them, learnt to eat with knives and forks, but then you can’t really develop actual class by copying. You know who has access to your mind? Individuals who are psychological plane equivalent of assholes who drive Fortuners and Thars in the NCR who go about intimidating and knifing people on roads. These kinds of individuals have the access to your deepest secrets. The finer culture and sensibilities of lower classes have been totally dismantled now, and it has been replaced by a crude village culture that has become grotesquely assertive and wannabe due to constant humiliation. You know what’s the worst thing? It doesn’t matter if you make your child read comic books in a cozy corner of your house, because innocence of the 90s is permanently gone. Whatever you see happening in this country is all planned even on the psychological plane. And if you’d look closely, it won’t take you time to realise that whatever is happening it cannot be from the minds of a benevolent planning commission but a gang of land grabbing village rapists.
